On Thursday 18th May, our football team Kempston Athletic FC hosted a charity event at Kempston Rovers. Co-Founder Aaron Anderson was hit with the news that his mother, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) in December 2022. Following numerous treatments and chemotherapy, Lisa Anderson is now in remission. Following this news, Aaron Anderson and the rest of us at Kempston Athletic FC decided to raise money for Blood Cancer UK, and build awareness for blood cancer. As a result of our efforts, we achieved over £4000 raised for the charity through donations. On the night of the event, we saw two teams made up of Kempston Athletic players, staff and friends go head to head, with Team Aaron (Co-founder of KAFC) taking on Team Gian (club captain), which saw Team Gian win the game 5-2 and take home the trophy. Kempston Athletic could not thank everyone enough for their support, and a huge thank you to Incident Management Solutions (IMS) who donated £500 for our event. We are also very happy to announce that IMS are the newest sponsors for the club, providing us with some amazing tracksuit tops for the players and staff.
We cannot wait to do this again next year, following what we hope to be a very successful season. Thank you to everyone who supported, we are all very grateful and appreciate everything. From Josh/Aaron (Club founders), Jai and Danny (Club manager and coach).
